New Board of Directors
Dear GeoITists,
We are thrilled to announce the revival of our association after a lengthy hiatus. Our goal is to swiftly restore the esteemed reputation we once enjoyed! Eager to get started, we have launched a new website (https://geoit.org) and are already planning two exciting events.
New Board of Directors
Prof. Dr. Roland Wagner has stepped down as president, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank him once again for his outstanding contribution over the years, up until the disruptions caused by COVID. The new board is now comprised of:
- Prof. Dr. Michel Deriaz, President: Professor at the University of Applied Sciences of Western Switzerland, he has been pioneering internal geolocation projects for over 13 years and teaches artificial intelligence.
- Prof. Dr. Thomas Blaschke, Vice-president: Professor at the University of Salzburg where he teaches geoinformatics, his focus is on how geoinformatics can support effective policies, business, and planning through research and applications.
- Mr. Lukasz Rojek, Vice-president: Visiting Lecturer in Geoinformatics at Beuth Hochschule für Technik Berlin and Research Associate in Sensor Technologies at SRH Hochschule Berlin. Lukasz focuses on robotics and automation systems, integrating both into his teaching and research projects. Lukasz is our new webmaster.
- Mr. Georg Held, Treasurer: Senior product manager at Arculus, he is passionately dedicated to innovating around digital technologies, crafting profitable strategies, and delivering customer-centric experiences.
Save the dates!
- 10th of February 2025: Symposium Event in Berlin. We are not short of ideas for upcoming activities, but we are eager to gather the thoughts, desires, and expectations of all our members. The event will also feature a few presentations. Exact time and location details will be shared in early January.
- 2nd and 3rd of July 2025: AGIT in Salzburg. GeoIT is honored to be invited by AGIT, a leading conference on geoinformatics, to showcase our activities and network with academic and industry experts. Initial conference details are already available at https://gi-salzburg.org/en/, and more information about our participation will follow.
We look forward to re-engaging with all of you and embarking on this exciting new chapter together!
Warm regards,
Your board:
Michel, Thomas, Lukasz and Georg
