Biography

Arno Fischer studied physics at TU Berlin, earning his PhD in 1979 on X-ray structural investigations of technical catalysts. He worked at the Fritz Haber Institute (1972–1979) and later in industry, including Alusuisse (1980–1982) and Siemens (1982–1993), focusing on process automation and broadband networks.

From 1994 to 2015, he was a professor for operating systems and computer networks at Brandenburg University of Technology (BTU), also serving as Vice President for Research (2007–2015). He co-founded CCDM GmbH in 1999 and worked on drone applications at BTU from 2013 onwards. After retiring in 2015, he contributed to the MIDRAS project on drone detection.

Since 2016, he has been a coach and co-founded Emqopter GmbH, specializing in drone technology. From 2017 to 2020, he was an examiner for UAV pilot licenses. Since 2021, he has been a lecturer in computer science, currently teaching at SRH Berlin and working on a flight simulator project.

Privately, he is a hobby pilot at Schönhagen airfield, flying Breezer and C42 aircraft.
