Innovation Mindset for the Digital Age: Bridging Research, Technology, and Society
As geospatial technologies, AI, and digital transformation reshape economies and societies, the role of innovation and technology transfer becomes essential. The challenges are not only technological but also cultural and organisational. They require changes in universities and business strategies, a new mindset, and a cultural shift in how we train and support the next generation of students, engineers, researchers, and innovators.
Drawing on my experience across government, business, and academia in Europe, as well as my involvement in European and international innovation projects, this talk will highlight how we can strengthen the link between research, testing, innovative solutions, and societal impact. Building innovation competencies within academia, businesses, and public bodies (e.g., municipalities, hospitals) through cross-sector collaboration can accelerate the uptake of GeoIT applications in health, mobility, safety, security, and sustainable urban development.
As a newcomer to the GeoIT network and an enthusiast for innovation with societal impact, I invite you to a discussion on a key question: How can GeoIT researchers and practitioners embed innovation strategies into their work to maximise societal benefit?
